Short answer: Your first paintball game is a lot less painful and a lot more fun than you expect. Round up a group of friends if you can: paintball is a team sport, and six or more players make the best day of it. Wear a couple of layers you don't mind ruining, rent a package at a local field, listen to the safety briefing, and keep your mask on. Expect to spend roughly $70 to $120 per person for entry, rental gear and paint for a half-day of play.

Short answer: Fit beats everything. Heads come in different shapes and sizes, so there is no single best paintball goggle, and the best way to find yours is to go to a store and try on as many as you can. Beyond fit, look for a thermal anti-fog lens, a weight you can wear all day, coverage you're comfortable with, and a goggle you can hear and be heard through. Plan on lenses being consumable parts you'll replace over time.
