PRIVACY

This policy explains what the CRBN DRV Loader mobile app (“the app”) collects, why, where it goes, and your choices. The app is provided by Base Paintball Inc (California, USA), contactable at info@basepaintball.com.

1. Summary

  • The app pairs over Bluetooth with a CRBN DRV loader display and records your shots (velocity, timing, session groupings).
  • If you create an account or sign in, your shot history and settings are backed up to CRBN/Base Paintball servers so you can restore them and sync across devices.
  • If you don’t sign in (“continue without account”), your data stays on your phone and nothing is uploaded.
  • We use Bluetooth to talk to the loader and Location for two reasons: Android requires it to scan for Bluetooth devices, and (optionally) to label a session with the city it was played in.
  • We collect crash/diagnostic reports to fix bugs.
  • We do not sell or share your data for advertising.

2. Information we collect

a. Account information (only if you sign in or create an account)

  • Email address
  • Phone number (collected at sign-up)
  • Password (used to authenticate; stored only in hashed form on the server — the app never stores your password)

b. Loader & shot data

  • Shot records: velocity, timing, shot counts, and derived statistics (averages, peaks, consistency)
  • Session groupings and any names/labels you give them
  • Loader settings you configure (e.g. force, game timer, display layout)
  • Identifiers for the loader(s) you pair with

c. Device identifiers

  • A random, app-generated device identifier used to associate your backups with your account and reconcile them across your devices. On Android it is derived (one-way hashed) from the Android device ID; it does not expose the raw device ID and is not shared with third parties for tracking.

d. Location

  • The app can read your device’s location to reverse-geocode the nearest city name, used only to label the day’s session (e.g. “Los Angeles”). The app stores the city label, not your GPS coordinates.
  • On Android, the operating system also requires location permission in order to scan for Bluetooth devices at all; the app requests it for that reason even if you never use city labelling.

e. Diagnostics & crash reports

  • If the app crashes or errors, we collect a crash report (stack trace, app version, device model, OS version, and a short rolling log of recent app events) to diagnose the problem. Crash reporting is handled by Sentry (see §4). You can also manually share app logs with support from Profile → About.

We do not collect: contacts, photos, microphone/camera, precise location history, payment information, or advertising identifiers.

3. How we use your information

  • Operate the core feature: pair with the loader, record and display your shots.
  • Back up and restore your shot history and settings, and sync them across your devices (only when signed in).
  • Label sessions by city (only if location is available/permitted).
  • Fix crashes and improve reliability (diagnostics).
  • Communicate with you about your account or support requests you initiate.

If you use the app without an account, none of the server-side processing above applies.

4. Where your data goes (third parties & processors)

a. Backup servers. When signed in, your shot history and settings are uploaded to a Base Paintball–operated backup server and the CRBN Team Program service so they can be restored later and across devices. Access is authenticated to your account.

b. Sentry (crash reporting). Crash and error reports are sent to Sentry (sentry.io, operated by Functional Software, Inc.) as a data processor. Reports contain diagnostic data (see §2e), not your shot history or credentials.

We do not sell your personal information, and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. The app currently uses email/password sign-in only (no third-party social login).

5. Permissions the app requests

Permission Why
Bluetooth (scan / connect) Find and connect to your CRBN DRV loader
Location (approximate & precise) Required by Android to scan for Bluetooth; optionally to label a session by city
Notifications Show connection / sync status
Internet Sign in and back up / restore (only when signed in)

On iOS, Bluetooth and (optional) Location are requested via the standard system prompts. Denying Location still lets you use the app; you just won’t get automatic city labels (and on Android, Bluetooth scanning may be limited by the OS).

6. Data retention & deletion

  • On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. The app includes an “erase” function to wipe local data.
  • Cloud backups are retained while your account is active. To delete your account and associated backups, email info@basepaintball.com. We will delete or anonymize the data within 30 days of a verified request. (An in-app “delete account” option is planned before public release.)
  • Crash reports are retained by Sentry for approximately 90 days and then purged.

7. Security

Account passwords are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored only as salted hashes on the server. Backups are transmitted over encrypted connections and authenticated to your account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

8. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Your rights

Everyone. You can delete local data in-app at any time, and request deletion of your account and cloud backups (see §6).

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it’s used, to access and delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information (including for cross-context behavioral advertising), so there is no opt-out to exercise. To make a request, email info@basepaintball.com.

EEA/UK residents. You may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent, under the GDPR/UK GDPR. Contact info@basepaintball.com.
