GETTING STARTED
Identify Your DRV Loader
Software updates vary by display version. Before proceeding, identify which display your DRV Loader is equipped with.
Remove the inner tray and inspect the connector located on the top of the display housing to determine your display version.
SMART DISPLAY (USB-C)
The Smart Display features a USB-C connector and supports wireless software updates via Wi-Fi.
All DRV 200 and DRV 250 Loaders ship with the latest DRV Display Software installed. No updates are currently available.
ORIGINAL DISPLAY (MICRO USB)
The Original Display features a Micro USB connector on the top of the display housing.
Follow the instructions below in the Software Updates section to update your loader using a PC or Mac.
Normal Loader Behavior
WHAT IS NORMAL DRV LOADER BEHAVIOR?
Under normal operation, the DRV Loader should:
- Power on quickly
- Feed paint consistently
- Respond smoothly to user input
- Operate with minimal delay
Minor variations in sound, feed rate, or motor feel are normal and may vary based on paint condition, battery level, and rate of fire.
WHAT IS NORMAL MOTOR BEHAVIOR?
Motor operation depends on your display version and the software installed on the Main PCB.
Smart Display (USB-C) — The motor operates using a continuous spin feeding profile and ships with the latest Main PCB software pre-installed.
Original Display (Micro USB) — The motor operates using a pulsed feeding profile during normal operation. If an Original Display loader has received the latest Main PCB software during a service event, the motor will also operate using the continuous spin feeding profile.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PULSED AND CONTINUOUS MOTOR OPERATION?
The primary difference is the timing of the automatic anti-jam feature.
- Continuous spin operation engages the anti-jam system slightly faster.
- Pulsed operation engages the anti-jam system slightly later.
Overall feeding performance remains comparable between both operating profiles.
WHEN SHOULD I TROUBLESHOOT?
Minor differences in motor sound, vibration, or feel are normal.
If you experience any of the following, refer to the Troubleshooting section:
- Inconsistent feeding
- Failure to power on
- Frequent jams
- Unexpected motor behavior
- Display or input issues

Software Update
DRV SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE
The DRV Loader utilizes two independent PCB (Printed Circut Board) assemblies, each with their own dedicated software.
Main PCB
Located beneath the loader body, the Main PCB controls motor operation, loading performance, and anti-jam functionality.
Display PCB
Located within the display assembly, the Display PCB manages player information, timer functions, settings, and user interface features.
Software updates for the Display PCB can be performed by the user using the procedures outlined below. Updates for the Main PCB require specialized programming equipment and are available exclusively at select event service locations, including NXL events.
Current software versions for both PCBs can be viewed in the display menu under About.
SMART DISPLAY (USB-C) UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
All DRV 200 and DRV 250 Loaders ship with the latest DRV Display PCB (Printed Circut Board) Software installed. No updates are currently available.
Your DRV Loader version can be identified by your display type. See the Identify Your Loader section by clicking here.
ORIGINAL DISPLAY (MICRO USB) UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
Stay current with the latest Original Display PCB (Printed Circut Board) Software and feature enhancements. Download the Original Display PCB Software v1.1.18 and the corresponding update instructions by clicking the orange button below labeled Download.
After downloading the files, open your Downloads folder, locate the DRV update package, and select the appropriate instructions for your operating system (Mac or PC) to begin the update process. For more guidance, watch the step-by-step instructional video below.
Note: These instructions apply to the Display PCB only. Main PCB updates require specialized programming equipment and are available exclusively at select event service locations, including NXL events.
